m & s mens shoes:Hoka One One Bondi 5 | First Look

With all of the hubbub surrounding the lightweight offerings (Clifton 3, Clayton, Tracer) from Hoka One One, some might forget about true maximalist shoes like the Bondi. While the Mafate was the first Hoka One One shoe, it was the Bondi that put Hoka on the map. It was commonly referred to as the broken runner shoe. That is, if you were a broken runner, you could actually run again in the Bondi. Obviously this was all anecdotal and became a bit of an urban legend. Yet, the fact remains the Bondi was a solution for many oft-injured runners, and still has a big following today.

The Bondi 5 builds on the success of its predecessors. It maintains the same rocker platform with an Early Stage Meta-Rocker, for a smooth roll from landing to toe off. It still has the Active Foot Frame for inherent stability. And the stack heights and heel-toe offset remain unchanged.

Although the inherent concepts of the Bondi 5 remain the same, the shoe has many new elements. The Bondi 5 gets a new fit and a new upper. It is built on the same last as the Clifton 3, which has been receiving high praise for providing a great fit.

Bondi5Outsole

Bondi 5 Outsole (subject to change)

The midsole gets a technical improvement and an updated look. It’s our understanding that the new midsole will enhance cushioning and improve durability over the outgoing Bondi 4. Additional durability should be found in the forefoot outsole, which gets a new pattern and places more rubber under the ball of the foot.
